The
County of Dauphin is currently
accepting applications for the full-time
position of Director of Veterans’
Affairs. An employee in this position will provide
advice, assistance and counseling to veterans and/or their families concerning
veteran benefits and services; he/she will review and file federal, state or
local benefit applications and act as an advocate for veterans, ensuring that
all benefits and entitlements due them are in accordance with applicable laws
and regulations. In addition to
directing and managing the daily operation of the Veterans’ Affairs program,
this employee will assist in seeing that veterans are treated with dignity now
and in the future through review and approval of applications for County burial
and headstone allowances, maintenance of a County veterans’ grave registry, and
purchase and distribution of flags and flag holders for veterans’ graves. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in human
services, or related field; training in management and benefits
administration. Some knowledge of
veteran benefits preferred. Two years
working experience in counseling services with some supervisory experience
preferred; or, any acceptable combination of education, experience and/or
training.
