Schaffner Youth Center is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Youth Program Specialist I/Aide.  An employee in this position maintains a safe and secure environment for youth through observation, supervision, counseling, and enforcement of rules and regulations while promoting the welfare of youth in their care.  Incumbent provides direct service to the residents of the facility.  Responsibilities include intake (including completion of forms, inventory of personal possessions, strip search, bathing, room assignment and orientation), counseling, program planning, resident supervision and preparation of behavioral summaries.  This is a union position.  A higher hourly rate may apply if successful candidate is an existing county employee.      

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Education, and/or (a) related field(s) for a Specialist I position or 60 credits towards a Bachelor’s degree in any field listed above for a Specialist Aide position.      

 

Application Process: Current employees must complete a Transfer Application.  Non-County employees must complete a County Application.  Both forms may be obtained from and submitted to the Personnel Department.
