An employee in this position maintains a safe and secure environment for youth through observation, supervision, counseling and enforcement of rules and regulations while promoting the welfare of youth in their care. Incumbent provides direct service to the residents of the facility. Responsibilities include intake (including completion of forms, inventory of personal possessions, strip search, bathing, room assignment and orientation), counseling, program planning, resident supervision and preparation of behavioral summaries. This is a union position.

An employee in this position will be responsible for controlling or surveying assigned county structures and premises; operating authorized electronic, electrical, and electrode-mechanical security devices in accordance with established policy and procedure; completing standardized logs and reports; investigating and documenting events observed or reported; and making appropriate notifications within and without county government. Incumbent will attend mandated instruction classes; establish and maintain associated certifications; and report to the shift supervisor daily.

An employee in this position provides clerical support within the Treatment Department, specifically, but not limited to, the Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy Program and the volunteer program at Dauphin County Prison.
