This is an entry-level position working at the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center at Wildwood Park in northern Harrisburg. An employee in this position is responsible for conducting environmental education programming and assisting in the operation of the nature center and park. Work includes the oversight of volunteers and service groups, resource management, conducting programs, facilitating special events, and performing daily chores.

Internships with the Dauphin County Commissioners will provide undergraduate or graduate students with experience in the day-to-day operation of county government. Interns will work with the Commissioners on special projects and with the Chief Clerk to assist with planning and preparation for the weekly public meetings and research issues to aid in developing county policy. Depending upon the intern’s interest, ability, and experience, internships can focus on a specific area of county government, including, but not limited to, administration, communications, prison and corrections, economic development, human services, and criminal justice. An employee in this position will be responsible for controlling or surveying assigned county structures and premises; operating authorized electronic, electrical, and electrode-mechanical security devices in accordance with established policy and procedure; completing standardized logs and reports; documenting and investigating events observed or reported; and making appropriate notifications within and without county government.
